Brief history of Ogden of Harrogate
In 1893 James Roberts Ogden opened what was to become one of the most renowned and prestigious jewellers in England. The beautiful Edwardian shop front and showrooms still retain many of the original Edwardian fixtures and fittings.
During its illustrious history, Ogdens has continued to supply jewellery and silverware of the highest quality to members of royalty and heads of state including FD Roosevelt, King George VI and Princess Marina.
Below is an image of Sir Winston Churchill receiving his silver cigar case made by the companies’ silversmith in Harrogate. This was one of many commissions received by Ogdens for heads of state and royalty.
