Piaget Polo Green
The Piaget Polo Green is a new model for 2020. It features a 42mm stainless steel case, an automatic movement, the Piaget 1110P, a steel bracelet and, most pertinently, a green guilloché dial.
In the elevated world of haute horlogerie, Piaget is held in high esteem. The Maison, founded in 1874, has always been a Manufacture, crafting its own in-house movements. Piaget operates from two sites, La Côte-aux-Fées within the Swiss Jura, the birthplace of the company, and a second facility in Plan-les-Ouates, located on the outskirts of Geneva.
The luxury marque is known for making jewellery, including haute joaillerie, and high-end timepieces. The ultra-thin calibre is a particular speciality of Piaget with several of the brand’s models possessing a sylphlike torso. This requires a thorough understanding of movement design, paying particular attention to reliability and torsional rigidity. Piaget’s expertise in this area is beyond compare.
During the 1970s, several high-end watch brands unveiled steel sports models. At the time, brands tried to re-educate the public, proclaiming that a prestigious watch could be steel. In 1979, Piaget joined the ranks of watchmaking’s elite, releasing its steel watch, the Polo. For over 40 years, this elegant watch has appealed to men of style, who appreciate its suitability for daily wear. The Polo collection has grown over the years and now encompasses chronographs as well as gold and gem-set options.
Now, there is a new version for 2020, the Piaget Polo Green.
The brand’s press release
Maison Piaget’s legendary collection of Polo luxury steel watches have served as a benchmark of masculine elegance since their birth in 1979, reflecting the elegance and high standards of the sport from which they take their name. Bold, resolutely masculine, always elegant, the Polo watch is a strong affirmation of style, success and individual expression.
The latest addition to the iconic collection bears a striking green horizontal guilloche dial which radiates a rich blue hue. Recognisable from its cushion-shaped dial set into a round case, this brand-new version is limited to 888 pieces. The 42m stainless steel case boasts an integrated bracelet that alternates between polished and satin-finished surfaces in an “H” link design. This spectacular green dial is paired with pink-gold coloured hands, gold indexes and date window frame. The hands and indexes are also enhanced with SuperLuminova for optimal reading in low light and the seconds hand features an elegant “P” for Piaget on its counterweight. The timepiece is powered by Piaget’s 1110P self-winding movement that has a slate-grey-coloured oscillating weight that can be admired through a sapphire crystal caseback.
