Jaquet Droz are bywords for elegance, its watches evince grace from every sinuous curve. Now the Swiss watch brand from La Chaux-de-Fonds has unveiled a new timepiece, the Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Quantieme Satin-Brushed.

Two off-centre dials collaborate to impart the time. The upper dial employs lancine-shaped hands to proclaim the hours and minutes. Meanwhile, a second subdial, positioned in the lower hemisphere of the dial, combines both a pointer-type date display with a direct-drive seconds hand.

Each dial is delineated with a chemin de fer. A sunray motif emanates from the centre of the seconds display, tastefully spreading its rays outwards across the dial surface.

The dial evinces a softly-spoken mien, save for the tip of the hand on the pointer-type date display and the number 31 at the top of the subdial which are festooned with a vibrant red hue. Each dial is adorned with rectangular shaped indexes that appear to arc downwards with graceful poise, courtesy of their convex profiles.

Would-be wearers can choose from an anthracite dial, equipped with rhodium-plated steel hands, or a grey dial, with blued steel hands. Additionally, prospective purchasers can choose from a 39mm or 43mm case.

The case is presented in stainless steel with gorgeously sleek horns, reinforcing the sense of elegance and purity which is ubiquitously presented with this exemplar of fine watchmaking.

Virtue is not only restricted to the aesthetics of this charming watch. The movement embraces the latest state of the art know-how. Both the ‘balance spring and pallet horns of the self-winding movement have been made in silicon. With unparalleled flexibility, silicon is a material that is perfectly stable over time and can withstand shock and variations in temperature, pressure and magnetic fields’.

Once again Jaquet Droz has cleverly fused contemporary styling with modern watchmaking know-how, whilst ensuring beauty is at the forefront of its offering.

The price for each version is $9,500.00 (RRP as at 19.6.2017).
