Bell & Ross BR 05 Skeleton Blue
The Bell & Ross BR 05 Skeleton Blue is the latest addition to the BR 05 family of models. With its sporty looks, steel case, integrated bracelet and automatic movement, the BR 05 has successfully tapped into a market segment that remains comparatively buoyant. Now, this new openworked model provides views of the movement via a blue-tinted sapphire crystal, further heightening the appeal of the BR 05 collection, originally launched in 2019.
In the last few years, luxury sports watches have attracted a huge amount of attention. The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, the Patek Philippe Nautilus and an array of different Rolex models have led to hordes of wannabe wearers and speculators queuing to the moon and back in order to acquire one of these coveted models. The prerequisites appear to be a steel case, sporty styling and, in most cases, an integrated bracelet.
With the demand for the aforementioned models outstripping supply, other brands have joined the fray. Last year, Urban Jürgensen released the Ref 5241 and Ref 5541, Chopard unveiled the Alpine Eagle and Bell & Ross launched its popular BR 05.
Bell & Ross has always been known for its BR 01 and BR 03 models, hence the BR 05 was a courageous departure from the brand’s tried and tested design codes. Thankfully, the firm’s ambitions have been repaid with many journalists, myself included, complimenting the luxury marque for the BR 05’s styling.
This year, Bell & Ross, no doubt eager to capitalise on the success of inaugural BR 05 models, has decided to enlarge the collection, adding various references including this new model, the Bell & Ross BR 05 Skeleton Blue.
The Bell & Ross BR 05 Skeleton Blue is available on a blue rubber strap, embellished with a ribbed motif, or an integrated bracelet. Convenience is afforded, courtesy of an automatic movement, while the blue-tinted sapphire crystal grants sight of the openworked movement. This latest creation is limited to just 500 pieces.
The brand’s press release
Fifteen years ago, Bell & Ross reinvented the aesthetic codes of contemporary watchmaking with the launch of BR 01, a distinctive and singular watch directly inspired by on-board flight instruments. A square case, a round dial, and one screw in each of the four corners… more than an original concept, the utilitarian design of this watch revolutionized traditional watchmaking codes.
Over the years, this timeless timepiece has continued to evolve without losing its origins and strong identity. Being the ultimate reference in aeronautical watchmaking ever since, Bell & Ross launched – last year – an instrument for urban explorers, BR05. The BR 05 belongs to the family of watches with an integrated bracelet: the bracelet fuses with the case to create a unified piece. Accurate, legible, reliable, and functional, this new iconic line is completed with a new appealing and complementary timepiece.
The new BR05 SKELETON BLUE adorns the challenge of transparency.
Reflecting the finest Haute Horlogerie craftsmanship, this new skeleton version – dressed in blue – highlights the architectural modern design of Bell & Ross’ latest urban collection.
The rich finishes of the BR05 draw the eye. Its 40 mm case is angular. The satin-finished surfaces are perfectly flat. The polished bevels emphasize and enhance the volumes they contain.
Particular attention has been paid to the arch of the curve, allowing all the components to be perfectly aligned and ensuring the bracelet can adapt seamlessly to any wrist.
The blue-tinted transparent dial features metal appliqué indices and forms a clear window through which the skeleton movement can be admired. The skeletonized Super-Luminova®-filled hands and appliqué indices offer perfect legibility at both day and night. The BR05 SKELETON BLUE is equipped with a BR-CAL.322 mechanism, wound by a 360° blue coated oscillating weight, open-worked to showcase the movement designed by Bell & Ross. The brand’s logo is metallized on the sapphire case-back.
Lovers of mechanical craftsmanship will be seduced by this limited edition of 500 pieces. True fusion between tradition and avant-gardism, this model can be worn on a remarkably flexible steel bracelet or a ribbed blue rubber strap
