Britain has an illustrious history in watch making. Now the words “Made in Britain” are proudly displayed on the dials of British made timepieces such as those of Robert Loomes & Co. The skills and innovation is still alive. Names like John Harwood and George Daniels are internationally respected for their contribution to haute horology and their skills are given due respect by their successors such as Roger Smith, protégé of Daniels and the English brothers who have championed the British watch making cause.

It is almost a year since Daniels died, October 21, 2011, Trafalgar Day. Perhaps an appropriate link since 2012 has seen the launch of the Bremont’s Victory watch one of the many offerings which will be on display at Salon QP 2012 from the 8-10 November.

There is, however, much else on offer at the show. Timepieces whose launches are eagerly awaited such as the Tag Heuer Mikrontourbillon will be on display as well as those which caused a stir at the SIHH such as the Jaeger- Le Coultre’s Duomètre Sphérotourbillon.

Contemporary horology will be at home in the Saatchi Galley and Urwerk’s futuristic UR-210 will be there to view and having created a sensation with a £12 million yellow diamond ring at the opening of his Harrod’s boutique Harry Winston will present the Opus 12. It is quite amazing!
